You are More

Each and every day we are reminded of our past. Whether it is a string of our past lovers, our past mistakes or our past self. No matter how far we try and run we come back face to face with that time of our lives. We are constantly told that we won't succeed because of something that happened days, weeks, even years ago. It is that thing that will constantly be hanging over our heads like a storm cloud ready to strike at any moment. The worst part is that no matter how many times someone brings up "that one time" we can't take it back, no matter how much we want to. When we can look beyond our past we can see that we are more! We were not put on this earth to be perfect. He was. The simple fact is that we are going to make mistakes, and the beautiful fact is that we are still so loved by our One true King! "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8. You see? It doesn't say "when we live a perfect life Christ will then die for us." No! It reminds us that we weren't perfect but God found us worth it! Jesus has died in our place because He loves us more than we will ever comprehend. And when we give our lives to Him, He is for us, even in our mistakes. "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: 'For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.'  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:31-39. No matter what our past is God loves us. We don't need to be perfect to earn His love, and that is beautiful.

Psalm 103:8-12
"The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor His anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us."
