Trust the Lord

We often find ourselves planning our entire lives. "I want 6 kids, a cute house, a job that supports me, an amazing spouse. I'm going to school here and I will work there", but how often do we ask God if that's where we need to be? It is so easy for us to sit and imagine our significant others and what life would be like with your kids and dog. However, we lose focus on Him because we seem to be so wrapped up in our own little worlds that we forget to trust God. "Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and practice faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of those who prosper in their way, because of those who make wicked schemes. Let go of anger, and forsake wrath;

do not fret—it surely leads to evil deeds." Psalm 37:3-8. So often we forget that God is not some genie that we ask 3 wishes to and they're granted before our eyes. He wants us to talk to Him as a child would talk to their parent. He wants to know how our days were, what is bothering us and so on. In verse 5 it says that we need to Commit our way to the Lord or in some versions it says "Commit your future to the Lord". This means that He doesn't want us to go "Well, God, I want to do this and work these hours, so if you can do that that's be AWESOME, thanks." No! He wants us to freely say "Lord, do what you want for my future and help me understand why." This is an extremely scary thing at first, but it is totally worth giving to Him. After all, He is an omniscient God.."Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart departs from the Lord. For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when good comes, but will inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green, and it shall not be anxious in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit." Jeremiah 17:4-8. Throughout God's word He is constantly reminding us to trust in Him, but so often we think that our plans will turn out better than the God who knew us before the foundation of the earth was laid. It is time to "let go and let God". And when we do, it is absolutely beautiful.
